sorry for bringing politics into a place like this, but this guy's a total disappointment. "change we can believe in"? what a bunch of bull shit. he hasn't done anything to fight the big banks, seems like he's compromising on the public option (and many other things) for the sake of "bipartisanship", is sending 30000 more soldiers to Afghanistan with no date for withdrawal - btw, the 2011 date for withdrawal was a LIE, and now he's renewing the Patriot Act. seriously, what change? fuck.

i'm completely indifferent to the dude, but I'm not sure what people were expecting. I dont doubt he's just as frustrated about the fact that "change" takes place over an epicly long period of time. You wouldnt like him any better if he was completely gung ho about realizing his ideals--a lot of that shit is why we're stuck cleaning up messes these days.
lovely thing about governmet. the more power you have the more your hands are tied
and yeah thanks for bringing politics to this otherwise awesome forum XD

Yeah sending another 30000 men to the battlefield wasn't part of his original plan. He was very eloquent but I always knew that I could not put 100% of my trust in him (Voted for McCain). Right now I hope he can turn the tides of our recession.

I don't vote. But I'm with Shay on this one. I'm completely indifferent. What's going to happen is going to happen.

I'm afraid thats a load of shit Shay. Change can happen quite quickly, hell Bush managed to remove constitutional rights very quickly. Also this isn't change over time, this isn't even change at all. Obama wants to renew the Patriot act not get rid of it. His health care bill is a load of shit (and wont come till 2012) and he only made it that way because of big corporations. Obama is a big time conservative, I don't believe there are any liberals in the US. Oh and to top it all off hes a black guy who supports segregation.

I think Obama is alright at changing the recession and trying to get health care into the system but really....this war has been going on for ages and really, I find its getting old.

I'm usually a total douche bag on these forums writing gay jokes, but no body messes with my man!
Not true, he always said he wanted to send more forces to Afghanistan and destroy the taliban, the real reason for any of this involvement, and dwindle the forces in Iraq and wrap everything up there ASAP, and responsibly. Off the top of my head, presidential debate #2 is where he detailed this.
Yeah, that's why he went against most democrats and pushed for the 30,000 troops so we can finish the job, and begin to come back July 2011.
As for politics, I never cared until recently. I get Obama, everything he says is very pragmatic and reasonable. A lot of critics say he hasn't lived up to the hype, but it's not like he hasn't tried.
We work in a democracy, so things move through getting all of the people's consensus (through the senate and house) in before anything is legislated... this has to be a slow process. And it doesn't help how a lot of the republicans aren't putting out any real ideas, just doing their best to obstruct Obama's agenda. Doesn't matter how strong Obama pushes his ideas ("he's being too soft" "not being strong enough"), if you don't like the idea, doesn't matter how loud the person yells, you won't listen.
*back to being a retard*

key words are "begin to come back": www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/markmardell/2009/12/no_afghanistan_withdrawal_in_2.htmlhow many are actually coming back, we don't really know. i think obama has good intentions but he needs to toughen up and quit trying so hard to appease the republicans. also, i'm with dawkins almost all the way. i do think he comes off a little strong sometimes, but he has to when he's talking with crazy brain-dead fundamentalists who take the books literally. the ultimate problem, though, is that his arguments are based on observation and reason but theirs are on faith, which in any other case wouldn't hold water in debate, which is why he's so frustrated.
