This thread will be for concept evaluation and creation, folling in line with the project. We will gather here to discuss ideas, refine concepts, and coordinate all aspects of the CMP.
Here are some things to ponder:
-Possible remakes/remixes/sampling -Concept art (i.e. visuals for the expoundment of our projects, or inspiration that lead to their creation) -Expanding to other platforms -Creating a sort of database that tracks our musicians/writers

mark me down for guitars and shitty vocals! =D
so i've been dorking over this concept since the start, and here's the direction i would like to propose we follow. Instead of focusing on the entirety of creation, it is instead the backdrop for the snippet of it we choose to depict--in this case Galan, Lirneira, and their eventual falling out. I just find their tale incredibly beautiful and inspiring, and the themes of love and loss and decay will speak well to both the artists and the listener.
that is just my idea on how to go about it, i am by no means saying we have to do it this way (although i am very strongly in favor of it)

Creation itself is more or less just a setting or timeframe. The story is about change. Love. Creating life. Moving on.
Of course we could always go with continuity as just a suggestion again.

so looking at the material we currently have and the material we might have floating in our brains, how would you like to present the concept--speaking on a track by track basis.
My understanding of the concept is limited to that original post but here is what i've had bouncing around: Track 1: Sandweaver (instrumental)--the nameless creates the sands Track 2: Wilderness (ambient)--Galan's existence in the sands Track 3: (reefer riffs)--Galan's efforts to win Lirneira's heart Track 4: Galan and Lirneira conceiving Arienril--doesnt have to be presented in a literal sense. the song can be a romantic one with a metaphorical tie Track 5: Gheist--heaviness! Track 6: Lirneira's sadness--something sorrowful, instrumental or with female vocals Track 7: closing--maybe another work by phil to convey the sadness and decay

Well, it doesn't end there. But here's what I have in mind up until the point you presented:
Track 1: Sandweaver (istrumental) - Trephes makes the sands Track 2: Wilderness (ambiet with a sensation of lonesome) - Galan's meaningless existence Track 3: Orchestral or classical (in some way) crescendo of a song - Galan's efforts to win Lirneira's heart Track 4: Galan and Lirneira conceiving Arienril - Thinking nothing but acoustic guitar here. Maybe some pads for ambience and mood. Track 5: Gheist - Reefer riffs, but let's build on them. Track 6: "Lirneira's Lament" - This, I'm thinking should start the same as track 4, but it will build into heavies, because she was sad first, then she got angry. Track 7: Arienril & Django - We need something fruity here.

ae you sure the reefer stuff is heavy enough for Gheist? i figured Gheist suff would be all like ROOOOAAAARR! and such. if we do end up taking the reefer stuff off the galan/lirneira thing then yeah i can see something orchestral working there, but i'd still like to include some modern instrumentation for that extra edge and tension.

Shay, you're about as gentle and heart-warming as a Komodo Dragon driving a heavy class Armoured Core.

totally forgot to record this new riff but figured I'd update this in advance anyway.
came up with an idea for a second guitar on the pinch harmonic section of the March of Goliath song. Also dropped the tuning down a whole step from drop D (CGCFAD). It gives everything a more "earthy" sound--dont know yet if thats a good or bad thing.
(tab redone in a later post since formatting didnt carry over)
and that just repeats while the other guitar does its thing. I know it might be overkill on the pinch harmonics but we can mix those up or whatever later for maximum impact. Anyway its just an idea I really like and you can use it as a springboard for something similar or entirely different.

Still doesn't help my current inability to produce a pinch harmonic. Yay acoustic.

Yes, but not on my acoustic. Ibanez has low action. Elixers buzz when you try a ph.
