Um. Pure win? The chick is hot, she has a huge range and a powerful voice, and aside from being molded from the same pop-rock mold many bands were bore from in the past, they still manage to be unique.
For Shayan's benefit, I will include a list of "First Impressin" songs:
We Are Broken (Which always makes me think of you, Shay) Whoa Emergency Misery Business

Misery Business- hilarious ass music video (when she shoves the dude with the broken arm and he starts crying...i just died! XD) music didnt do anyhting for me, like i cant even remember any of it even though i just watched it. It did sound a lot more pop than rock to me, though. Not a bad thing at all, just stating an observation. Pop isnt for me so yeah =) Whoa- this sounded straight up Disney Channel to me. Very "bubble gum", nothing bad to say Emergency- I couldnt find anything to latch onto in this particular song. The guitars are really understated, i mean even for someone who really likes the current music i think more interesting guitars would make it 50 times better. We Are Broken- I actually really liked this one. It was a stylistic departure from the other ones and just really stood out as an honest, heartfelt effort. If they had more stuff like this I would very likely become a fan. The arrangement just sounds more mature and cerebral compared to the other prescribed tunes, which are more "color by numbers" type of fare. This song encouraged my mind to stop and analyze what was happening music and lyric-wise--while the others were just sort of mind numbing (although Misery Business managed to have some "hooks" even though i cant remember them). I think thats why immerse myself so heavily in the world of stoner and prog, I crave the brain exercise of deconstructing riffs and complex lyrical themes.
...or I just have my head up my ass
I'm surprised you didnt suggest the song "Decode" which is the one on the Twilight soundtrack. I checked it out on a whim and It pretty much addresses everything i dont like about "whoa", "misery business" and "emergency". Perhaps those are earlier songs because "decode" sounds like a band that has matured musically. There's no longer that element of disney sugar coating to it, there's some deep emotion being expressed in a fittingly moody format. The guitars are more prominent with that chunky verse riff and the simple yet effective solo, it made me pay attention. The vocals were nice but i think she should have belted it out a bit more cuz after a while i just forgot about her and stuck to the musicians. The band i heard in this song and "we are broken" is one i can really give props to despite not really blowing me away or anything. Hopefully they are set on this direction now. They just had an album come out too but i havent heard anything from it.
anyway...i'll stop sounding like a prick now ^_^

You don't, and those are all things I've thought myself. We Are Broken is definately my favourite of theirs, though. You can feel her in that song.

I agree its the best i've heard from them. The opening verse gives me goosebumps. I actually felt kind of bashful that it reminds you of me XD
