I'm a few missions in. So far the campaign blows ass. Havent tried MP yet but i know its gonna be fantastic. The first thing i did was see how the game's iron sights auto-aim had changed from the previous game. God its even worse than before! D: turned that shit off instantly--i prefer to rely on my own reflex than a really iffy auto lock on.
Ally AI is hilarious. I'm fighting on the roof of a fast food joint, and my comrades will be like "enemy on the roof!" so i turn around and watch as everyone ignores the lone russian running around and capping them in the back. *eye roll*
The intro mission was pretty interesting. The first game took place in a fictional middle eastern country. This time the game starts off in an army base in Afghanistan. As most of you know our own forum boss Ollie is stationed there so it was kind of surreal to walk past a hummer and hear rap music playing from a personal stereo as two chums work on repairs. It really reminded me of the footage from the AFK video she made for us. Also the Afghani soldiers for hire were hilariously disinterested and lazy XD There was one part where some guys are pinned behind a hummer and returning fire--meanwhile the local dude is sitting on his ass and munching on a chocolate bar! XD Go brown people!
The airport segment was interesting too. The shock was lessened for me because i saw the footage when it leaked a few weeks before, but it was still a strange experience to be mercy killing civilians writhing on the ground as blood poured from their wounds. Or worse yet, opening fire on the fleeing ones.
still relatively fresh impressions, i'm hoping the single player gets better--i wish the game had a "shut the fuck up" button. You know, when your allies just wont shut the fuck up? They keep throwing out context sensitive dialogue that 90% of the time begins with your character's name. Not only that, but most of the time its pretty useless to anyone who can get their head around how an FPS level usually unfolds. MW2 is designed to be extremely accessible and be a mass commercial hit, and the design decisions driven by that aim are really really irritating to anyone with half a brain. Cant there be a "smart" option or something that changes the experience? XD
anyway...anyone else play it yet?
