It's a guilty pleasure ...
At first I thought it was just a phase when I started reading Absolute Boyfriend, but now I'm addicted. However, I'm very picky when it comes to shojo. I hate the ones where they drag on and on and it's obvious the two main characters like each other, but do nothing to advance the relationship because they are ... a) too stubborn or b) too stupid and it's 17 volumes into it and still nothing has happened ... *beats head against table*
Sometimes I can tolerate it, like in Skip Beat, but most of the time I hate it. XD
My current favorite is High School Debut!! It's over (in Japan) but I still love it so much! Especially the ending!!! X3 I can read it over and over and never get bored with it. Much like Absolute Boyfriend (even though the ending always makes me cry like a little pansy bitch).
Otomen comes second, even though it gets a little repetitive every now and then, but it amuses me so that makes up for it (sometimes).
And then there is Mars (which I'll probably have to continue buying from Amazon since it's pretty old) but it has a really interesting plot (so far, but I only have two volumes). XP
So I guess what I'm getting at is ... I need some more good shojo to get into!! Any suggestions?

How about Rosario + Vampire? The two main characters pretty much hit it off in the first 5 seconds. instead of doing all that super state of denial bullcrap the obstacle in the relationship is the fact that they are always hounded by villains, jealous friends, etc.
its hilarious, sexy, and cute! I'm not sure if its EXACTLY shojo. i mean yeah there's cute romance and stuff, but there's tons of fan service and stuff for the guys too! Its definitely something both genders can agree on. I heard about it form Kirei and she loves it to death. I also highly recommend watching the anime, as the chicks are even hotter looking (may not matter to you but it matters to me ^_^) and its just really well done
I also really like Boys Be. but thats like a romance targeted at male readers...so i guess its romance shonen? anyway its a series of short stories about normal people characters and relationships. I cant see why a girl wouldnt enjoy just as much. There's no ecchi or anything. pretty innocent stuff here

Hmm. I read what you had to say for Rosario + Vampire in another thread, and I'm not sure I like the idea of them hitting it off so quickly, but I'll definitely give it a try. *nods* Boy Be sounds interesting as well. I don't mind the shonen side of a romance at all. I really liked I''s for a while (the pervertedness is always a plus) ... until it started dragging its ass and then it got just as bad as a shojo. *groans* But Boy Be sounds like something I'd like. X3 Good Shojo? Pffft. Good luck. [/ Absolute Boyfriend] Yeah I knew you'd say something like this. XP

Thanks for the warning. XP Though I probably wouldn't have even looked for the anime. I enjoy reading manga better than watching it. *shrugs* I guess I like the idea of looking at the artist's original work/intent rather than something that's based off it. Though sometimes it's the other way around and the anime comes before the manga and that's fine too as long as the manga isn't the exact same thing ... that get annoying/old fast. That's probably another reason why I like manga better because the anime tends to lack any changes, and usually if I read it first I have the perfect voices for the characters in my head and when an anime comes out it's never the same or completely opposite of what I thought they should sound like and it makes me want to cry. lol
But I'm way off topic. XP
Any other shojo someone would like to suggest?

*sighs* I'm sad to say it, but I tried reading Rosario + Vampire and it just couldn't hold my attention past the 6th chapter. T-T Though I can see why you like it RaShay. All the female characters are pretty hot/adorable ... and there's plenty of fan service ... but you hardly every see Moka's panties. There's always something in the way. *huffs*

yeah R + V aint a panty manga. the anime is a lot looser with the fan service and i think whats her face (the succubus) shows a lotta panty in there. I also havent finished the manga, but thats because i had the not so bright idea of buying multiple games in a short period of time. they call to me, endlessly.
its like a brothel of polygon love

actually...now i remember there's a LOT of panty in the anime. So if thats what had you feeling down about the manga then give the show a shot. it gets especially good when the ice girl comes into the picture *drool*

No. It wasn't the pantie thing that had me down. It just felt a little repetitive. Every chapter had (basically) the same plot and it got old really fast. What? New character? No way! And it's a hot chick? No way!! And she's totally drooling over the main character guy?! No way!!! Or yeah, they're all monsters and now she wants to eat him?! No way!!!! Moka turns into her true form and saves the day?!! No way!!!!! *shrugs*
I still haven't found the other one you suggested, Boys Be. *pouts* I must search harder!

i agree about the nature of the chapters/episodes in R+V. The formula stays the saem from beginning to end mostly. but i mean...its not like its about the story D: i just wanna see boobs a bouncing and such and tsundere ice chicks in horizontal stripes
but Boys Be might be hard to find online since its been in print in america for some years now. I have i think 5 or so volumes on my bookshelf. perhaps it was never fan-translsated for the web anyway. Its worth buying the volumes tho. But i guess read one first just to be sure. Boys be is a series of short stories so every chapter has new characters and the situations i almost ALWAYS boy likes girl, funny shit happens, heart warming ending. They all deal with real-world characters and situations too. so its fun to relate to i guess. I was a closet romantic in high school and this shit got me hooked back then
there are some variations on it that are really interesting (drunk christmas, anyone?) but you essentially know what youre getting when you get into it. anyway, its the smaller details that make the manga so great. Like "oh look, this one's about musicians who like each other" or "ah, meeting over the internet without knowing you are classmates". Keeps things fresh, plus the art is kinda unique. I especially like the way the girls are done. very cute

o.o.....actually the girls are ridiculously cute. especially when they cry or pout or something =O
oh shit now i gotta read it again! *runs to bookshelf and accidentally hits boner on something* >.< must.....endure....for boys be
XDD jk jk. One thing thats neat about boys be is the girls arent charicatures (by anime standards, i mean) with super idealised images. A lot of them are just average school girls with endearing quirks and personalities. i swear some of the character designs blur together tho....so maybe there's not a bunch of variation of faces/hair styles

Shonen Romances shouldn't exist.
End of story.
I learned that from buying 7 volumes of I"s.
Which you should check out RaShay. It's sexy and has shit plot, sounds like something you would dig.
*goes back to Mah DBZ*
It has romance. >.>;;

and a few other pages ... but I don't ever think you see nipple ... I don't remember ... that and I didn't read it all the way through ... I just looked over Dolphy's shoulder every now and then as he read it. But I remember conveniently placed stars and bubbles ...
